This story was submitted by Brea, a 2013 graduate of our Diploma program.
My story thus far.
I was inspired after reading Bonnie's story to share mine, so here goes.
I graduated in 2013 after studying the full time diploma, before that was part time evening for a year in 2012. My youngest child started school this year so I felt it was a good time to dive into full time study.
I came to this course after many years starting TAFE courses and never finishing ( I have dabbled in animal care, child care and real estate) but I could never stick with anything. I never thought that I could work in a library even though I have always loved visiting libraries, I just couldn't join the dots.
I feel like this is my career and it's what I'm passionate about, I have grown so much as a person and have a renewed confidence, I'm not going to lie, it has been tough but it's doable and so worth it.
Whilst on industry placement at UWS I was successful in gaining casual paid employment, this experience has been invaluable and I would highly recommend undertaking it if possible.
So what's next?
Well I have been accepted into CSU to study the Bachelors Degree in Library and Information Studies. By completing the Diploma at TAFE I have been credited 64 points taking the time to complete from 6 years part time to 4 years part time.
I am also embarking on a move to the central coast (know of any job opportunities?)
So there are busy and interesting times ahead, I have definitely enjoyed my time at TAFE and made some life long friends, I'll actually be sad to leave.
